Becoming Modern

Becoming Modern: Saginaw Architects Reshape Their Community will explore buildings designed by Saginaw architectural firms in the years following World War II. As an important industrial center, Saginaw had a number of innovative architectural firms. The structures designed by these firms helped redefined a large area of the community and are still identifiable landmarks. 
This exhibit will feature a recreation of a 1960s family room that will include space for children and adults to build their own modern structure using a popular period building set. In addition, it will include original architectural drawings, photographs and artifacts to tell the story of iconic Saginaw structures, their designers and the people who commissioned them. Becoming Modern: Saginaw Architects Reshape Their Community will be on display Feb. 21 to April 30, 2017.
