History on the Move
History on the Move is our award winning mobile museum and classroom geared for students in second through fifth grades. All Saginaw County public, charter and private schools are eligible to host History on the Move free of charge. We can accommodate up to six classrooms a day with each class engaging in a 50 minute hands-on program. If your school has more than six classrooms interested in participating in our History on the Move program we can schedule your school for additional days.
To meet our patron needs, the semi-truck trailer is wheelchair accessible and it includes a lift.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is History on the Move?
What is the cost?
History on the Move is a free program offered to schools within Saginaw County.
What grades is History on the Move intended for?
History on the Move is intended for grades 2-5, and covers many Michigan Benchmarks and Standards in English (ELA), math, science and social studies. If interested in scheduling for other grades contact Sheila Hempsted at 989-752-2861, Ext. 311.
Why should I schedule History on the Move to come to my school?
Research has shown that students have different learning styles, hands-on learning being one of them. Also, hands-on experiences enhance a student’s ability to comprehended and retain information, therefore helping a student to succeed in school and with state assessments.
What does a school need to have History on the Move visit?
The only requirement is a place to park the 60 foot truck. History on the Move is self-contained and does not need to connect in any way to your school. History on the Move is both heated and air-conditioned.
What if we do not have the needed parking for History on the Move?
Talk to your principal first, as there may be an available spot that is not normally used for parking that we might be able to use. If a spot does not exist on school property, check with businesses around you. Is there a church next door or across the street? Is there a business with a large parking lot? Typically if you ask in advance, businesses and churches will allow us to park there for a day or two if needed. Again, please talk with your principal before contacting a local business or church.
