About the Museum

Step into the story of Saginaw County at the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History, located in the heart of downtown Saginaw. Explore three floors of fascinating exhibits that bring our region’s rich past to life—from the history and culture of the Anishinabek people to the lumber boom, the rise of the automobile industry, and much more. The museum is also home to the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating the athletes, teams, and achievements that have shaped our community. Whether you're a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor, the Castle Museum offers an engaging journey through the people, places, and events that made Saginaw what it is today.

How We're Funded:

In August 2020, voters in Saginaw County approved a 0.1997 millage (property tax) to fund the general operations of the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History along with the general operations of Frankenmuth Historical Association, Bridgeport Historical Society, Chesaning Historical Society, and St. Charles Historical Society.

With these funds, in addition to the care of the collections and the creation of exhibits, the Castle Museum has been able to provide county residents with these benefits:

  • Free unlimited general museum admission for county residents

  • Free classroom programs for all K-12 schools in Saginaw County

  • Free school field trips

  • Curriculum development for all ages

  • Free Lunch & Learn speakers series and History After Hours speakers series

  • Free community events and celebrations

  • Expanded community partnerships
