1006 North Michigan Party Casserole
What You Will Need:
2 lbs ground beef
2 lg onions
8 medium potatoes, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cans of stewed tomatoes or 1 can of tomato sauce and 1 can stewed tomatoes
Put ground beef in bottom of casserole. Cover with onions, then potatoes, tomatoes and tomato sauce, seasoning each layer. Bake 2 hours at 350° degrees.
This dish was a favorite of the residents of the old Benton Hanchett house, which was converted to apartments in the 1950s.
Mostly occupied by members of Pit and Balcony, they would get together and serve this dish.
"Although the recipe did not call for it, I cooked the ground beef first to easily drain the grease. I also used one can of stewed tomatoes and one can of tomato sauce, and was sure to season each layer very well. Overall, this recipe was super easy to make and quite tasty," Deana Coleman stated.
