What you will need:
1 head of finely cut cabbage
2/3 c vinegar
1 c sugar
1 tsp celery seed
2/3 c salad oil
1 tsp salt
Mix together vinegar, sugar, celery seed, oil, and salt. Boil 1 minute. Pour over cabbage. Let marinate at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. Best if made 24 hours in advance. Will keep up to a week in the refrigerator.
Frank Garsticki owned Out Our Way Cafe, located at 21st and Norman street in Saginaw, Michigan. The popular restaurant was famous for its perch dinners, which included fresh rye bread, wonderful french fries, and Frank's legendary coleslaw. It was the first area restaurant to feature Michelob on draft.
